A quick guide to creating a sociable event

Social Media for Events

What to plan and use during an event to make it shareable

1. Hashtag

Promote your hashtag! For the WRCA Ranch Bronc Riding Championship, use hashtag #RBRC13. This creates an easy way for people to search event-related tweets, photos, etc. happening in real-time..

2. Be Interactive

Encourage social interaction on all levels of the event from the MC, to the ticket desk. Let people know they can be featured during the event when they post questions, comments, opinion, etc.

3. Recapture the Event

Videos and other content will feature what happened after the event. Using the hashtag solidifies the success online, and creates a milestone you can build upon.

4. Network

The net result of a sociable event is new relationships that create new business, new connections and overall, a larger professional network. This is hugely beneficial!

What to accomplish in your event:

Listen and Respond

Make sure that you have internet capability to be able to see what people are saying online, respond to them and share throughout the event.

Be who you are, socially

This is your time to shine! You have everyone in the event, now make your brand known. For example, share the stories that you’ve been telling during open spots of the event. Applying what you do everyday in the office to social platforms will help cement your loyalty among fans, and create a larger following.
